Archer-Elgin acquires Lebanon surveying firm Robert S. Shotts, Inc.

LEBANON, Mo. – Archer-Elgin Engineering, Surveying and Architecture is excited to announce the recent acquisition of Robert S. Shotts, Inc. (Shotts, Inc.) a surveying company located in Lebanon, Missouri. This acquisition took effect in July of 2020 and will be conducting business under the name Archer-Elgin-Shotts.   

Archer-Elgin is a full-service consulting engineering, surveying, and architectural company with an emphasis on civil and municipal engineering, land surveying and mapping, and architectural and construction services. “The acquisition of Shotts, Inc., will allow Archer-Elgin to enhance its surveying expertise as well as expand our engineering and architecture capabilities to the Lebanon area and southwest Missouri,” said Archer-Elgin President Jeff Medows.

“Robert (Bob) Shotts has a strong reputation for exceptional land surveying services to the Lebanon community and beyond for over 25 years, and it is that commitment to excellence and professionalism that attracted us to Shotts, Inc.,” Medows said. “We look forward to working with Bob and his team, and to extending the Shotts reputation for excellence well into the future.”

Bob Shotts added, “Archer-Elgin has always been a good friend of Shotts Surveying, so when the prospect of both firms joining became a possibility, we jumped at the opportunity. Jeff, Dick Elgin, and I have always had a good, working relationship and we are excited to now be a part of the Archer-Elgin family.”

Having previously been named “Surveyor of the Year” by Missouri Society of Professional Surveyors, Bob and his team bring over 40 years of experience in surveying, landscape architecture, and project management. With this merger, Archin-Elgin-Shotts is excited to continue to build on the consistent quality of work and satisfaction that both firms have demonstrated over the years to local communities.

Medows founded Archer-Elgin in 2003 under the name C.M. Archer Group, P.C. In 2011, the company purchased Elgin Surveying and Engineering, Inc., a longtime Rolla company established in 1962 by Robert Elgin and later owned by Elgin’s son, Richard L. Elgin. Having been fortunate to serve Mid-Missouri for nearly 60 years, the Archer-Elgin team continues to lead the area in engineering, surveying, and architectural demands. Archer-Elgin’s staff of 31 includes licensed professional engineers, professional land surveyors, designers, and administrative support staff. Archer-Elgin-Shotts is licensed in Missouri, Arkansas, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Tennessee.
